The City of Attleboro seeks a Planning Administrator who, under the direction of the Director of Planning and Development, performs general technical, administrative and clerical work supporting departmental staff. Assists the general public with various applications of the Zoning Board, the Planning Board, and Conservation Commission. Processes applications filed with the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board. Prepares meeting agendas, legal advertisements, decisions, posts meeting schedules, mails public notices, transcribes meeting minutes, and prepares correspondence. Attends evening meetings of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board to take minutes and assist Boards and departmental staff. Provides information to the public, and responds to questions, pertaining to the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Rules and Regulations, and other related departmental matters. Drafts correspondence, board decisions, and certificates of votes, legal notices, documents and forms for review by staff. Assists in processing documents and plans for “street acceptance”. Assists in updating maps, including the zoning map and street map. Assists department staff with the preparation of grant applications, technical research, and other planning related project activities. Updates and maintains the department’s website. Performs other related duties as warranted.
Associates Degree preferred; three years’ experience in urban affairs or business administration, municipal planning office experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of local community planning. Must have strong computer skills. Must have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to deal with the public, co-workers, and officials tactfully.
