The Town of Grafton is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Town Planner. Under the direction of the Town Planner, this position is responsible for providing technical support to the Planning Board/Department and performs a variety of duties related to current and long-range planning and development within the Town.
The position will assist with: review of land use/development applications; drafting permits; updating of various Town development regulations and plans; conducting studies and analyses regarding planning and development issues; creating mapping and graphics; and, providing technical assistance to planning and development-related Town Boards and Committees. Familiarity with Massachusetts Affordable Housing (MGL c.40B), Subdivision Control Law (MGL c.41), and Zoning Act (MGL c.40A) is desirable. Strong oral and written communication skills, and experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and GIS is required. Attention to detail and a high level of organizational skill is highly desirable.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Geography, Public Administration or related field, and three years of planning-related experience, preferably in municipal government. A Master’s Degree in one of the above fields may be substituted for two years of experience. This starting salary range for this position is $56,802 – $62,669 DOQ.
