The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking an innovative and dynamic leader to join our Planning & Economic Development team as the Assistant Director!

Key Responsibilities:
· Assist the Director in developing and implementing critical local initiatives
· Manage and supervise department personnel and operations.
· Lead the planning and implementation of long-range goals and land use plans.
· Review and oversee site plan applications, legal notices, and public hearings.
· Conduct impact analyses, oversee bond estimates, and review permits.
· Research, write, and administer grants to support department activities.
· Drive efforts to retain, expand, and attract businesses to the Town.
· Facilitate public meetings, provide technical insights, and resolve community inquiries.
What You’ll Bring:
· A Master’s Degree in planning or a related field (preferred) and 3-5 years of planning experience, ideally in the public sector.
· Strong knowledge of planning principles, zoning laws, and Massachusetts General Laws.
· Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· AICP certification preferred and a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license.
· The ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and engage effectively with the public and town officials.
