The Assistant Planner assists in the operations of the Office of Planning and Community Development under the direction of the Director of Planning and Community Development and provides a range of development and land-use planning activities, including duties related to administering and staffing land use boards and commissions, performing plan review, project conformance review, plan creation and implementation, and other related projects. The position requires a flexible professional capable of responding to multiple priorities and the ability to turn work around quickly to meet strict legal deadlines mandated by state statutes, City Ordinances and City Regulations. The qualified candidate has excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated organization skills and a BS urban planning, architecture, public policy or related discipline, plus two years of experience in one of the following professional areas: planning, zoning, development, construction or an equivalent combination.
