Ipswich made land conservation a dedicated priority nearly twenty-five years ago when it established the Open Space Program within the Department of Planning and Development. Town citizens approved the designation of funds to support both land protection acquisitions, as well as operational funds for Program staffing and expenses. The Program has successfully protected nearly 1,000 acres of land in those 25 years, and manages stewardship of approximately 1,700 acres of conserved land.
